bowlThanks for your interest in my quest to rekindle a relationship with my father–in the kitchen. I’m a twenty-something food and health magazine editor-turned-Clinical Nutrition student in New York City–with a serious sweet tooth. I’m also a freelance writer and cookbook recipe developer. Most recently, my recipes can be found in The O2 Diet by Keri Glassman MS, RD, CDN. My work has also appeared in Prevention, Men’s Health, and Women’s Health magazines, as well as on iYogaLife.com. When I’m not studying or writing, I’m baking, in an attempt to create good-for-you versions of whatever I’m in the mood for.

My knack for baked goods comes from my Dad, Barley. Some of my best childhood memories include the smell of his yeast-risen crumb cake, the red-handled sifter he used to gingerly sprinkle confectioners’ sugar on top, and his neighborly-phone-call-inducing drum playing, complete with headphones plugged into the record player. This is the Barley I remember, and baking with him is my recipe for making new memories, more than 10 years later.
